hello from the hamptons!

i’ve been missing in action once again… this time it has been a month and a day… and once again, so much has happend… my trip to california was a beautiful collage of family, friends and home…  i had many an interesting experience, many a memorable moment, and many a lesson learned… my trip included daniel and april’s wedding (congrats!), erik brandt’s art show, my kid sister nicole’scollege graduation ceremony (which i unfortunately missed due to the wedding) andparty (which i fortunately was able to attend), a three day camping extravaganza at carlsbad state beach, a whole lot of nba playoff basketball, a epic dinner with the fam at ecco’s pizza in long beach, a few cruises in my brother’s huge truck, lots of coffee bean (ny needs at least one), the one required trip to in n out, a weird flight home, a weirder deja vu-esque drive home, some sleep, then back to work… while in california, i received a call from my boss letting me know that once i returned from cali, i would spend three days in the city trying to get things organized, then i would head out to east hampton for two weeks to open up our pop-up shop…

i’ve been in east hampton now for almost a week and i feel like i’m in a completely different world… mind you, i grew up in california… i grew up on the coast… i lived a relatively beach-centric lifestyle for most of my life… this beach-centric lifestyle is so astronomically different that it is hard for me to begin to describe… there are places back home that this place may remind me of (the town reminds me of a blend of 2nd street in long beach, balboa peninsula in newport beach, and abbott kinney in venice beach… all with a major east coast twist), but the landscape here is polar opposite…  i went on a bike ride the other night with chris (a friend that was working the shop with me for a few days) and we both couldn’t help but let out a few whoops and hollers!!!  there was a heavy marine layer out and i didn’t have any sort of light for my bike… surrounded by trees, fences, huge yards, silouhettes of huge houses 50 to 100 yards away, expanses where all you could see was the glow of the headlights from an approaching car, all illuminated by this heavy, heavy fog… it was surreal…like i said, its hard to describe this place…

i’m loving this life of adventure and new experiences… i encourage everyone to get out, go to new places, try new things, and always always always do a triple backflip frontside reverse when you get there.

ps, i have no way of uploading pictures via computer here… i need to figure out how to upload some photos via my bberry…
