my friend dan weaver shot these photos for me. i styled some new suiting that we got in at SA and had mr. eb model ‘em whilst weaver shot some film photos down in tribeca. i’m really excited with how they all turned out. i am hoping that these photographs, once put up on some blogs, will help us blow through all of these epic new suits. here are a few of my favorite shots.
so i’ve lived here for almost three months (kind of…), and the apartment is finally coming together… i didn’t want to post any photos until i could show something i’m at least mildly proud of… jon did an insane job of vintage shopping and scored most of our furniture in pennsylvania… enjoy.
but only due to a lack of internet at my apartment… in recent days i’ve seen the tallest man on earth play, poverty & co, and quiz kids… i’ve taken a tumble upon my bicycle… i’ve played a game called “quip it” which is thoroughly entertaining… i’ve watched planet earth via dvd… i’ve figured out that i’m probably moving… i’ve received my amazing shoes… i’ve purchased my plane tickets to california… i’ve seen the most beautiful day in ny since i’ve been here, followed by one of the most disgusting days of rain… dan weaver has moved to ny… i’ve gotten pretty good at tiger woods on wii… finished a piece for my sister kristie’s birthday… and figured out that i might not ever finish the “go for it” piece that i continually find new things to do with… thats about it for now…
i’ve been working a lot on some projects… originally i was trying to build a bedframe, but i realized my design wasn’t going to work out… in short, i would have fallen through my bedframe… it worked out though because i’m building backdrops for some new art pieces with the bedframe wood… i also went to blick… here are some photos of my new toys and the frame building process prior to staining….
frames…
when i was in pennsylvania, one of the random things i picked up was an ole’ piggy bank…. but this guy is a big ole’ piggy bank… i decided to paint her a metallic gold because that would make the pig far more bling bling, obviously… i call her iggy… say hello to iggy… hiiiiiii iggy…
here’s a portrait of coach i’ve been playing around with on the computer…
followed by steven alan in japanese…

i don’t have very much time right now, so i’m just going to post a bunch of random photos from the last little bit. i’m trying to get better about taking pictures of my life out here yonder, i just always forget. here’s a summary of what you are about to see… a walk to jon’s apt, the selection at legion, work fun (how about that shawl collar cardigan?), the sleeping bag jacket, double date night break with myself playing a dead bird alongside some dead birds, some drawing updates and just randomness. enjoy. and apologies for the delay.
on my arm.
let me give you the story.
i have actually had the idea of getting a bluejay tattoo for a while, but even more so after my trip back home for the holidays. sitting around the breakfast table christmas morning, my mom asked the fam to bring up some of their favorite family memories. at the time, being early in the morning, i couldn’t really get my brain to properly function. i was stuck and couldn’t really think of a single one of the millions of amazing memories i have had with my family. over the last week and half or so, i have had some down time to think more on this topic of family memories. i’ve been on long flights, bus rides, subway rides, bike rides, walks. i’ve thought of many a family memory since christmas morning, but the one relating to the bluejay on my arm is a very simple one that i might as well share with y’all since i’m sharing pictures.
my family camped. thats what we did to get away for a while. some families go to the movies all the time. some families go to sporting events. some families go skiing at the same mountain every winter. some families travel all over the world. my family kept it simple, real, and beautiful. my family camped.
i know that my father’s family camped throughout his childhood. as kids, we as a fam would often visit my oma and opa (my pop’s parents) to join them for a camping excursion. there are many things that we would do on the hundreds of camping trips i’m sure we went on, but one memory that i’ve never forgotten is the pure excitement shared by the sight of a bluejay. whether the beautiful bird be sitting in a tree, flying through the air, or hopping along the ground, i’ll always remember opa pointing out the bluejay for us all to see.
such a simple memory, it happened so many times, but its strange because it brings a smile to my soul everytime i think of it. a bluejay. life really is simple.
i loaded some more of my old art work up to the gallery. give it a check out if you get a chance. just click on gallery up yonder.
ps thanks to spin mag for these videos
a bit of a crap photo but i’ll put better ones up later. this one is for my mum. she saw a drawing that i did on paper that was similar and asked for it. so i did a new one on wood. pizza.
i have been working on this piece for an eternity. i think its finished. i call it wood #1. wood @2. is on its way.
