not really. but i’ve wanted to blow up some random photos i’ve taken and see how they turn out. i went to the local kinkos and figured out that i could blow up some of the images to poster-size, in black and white, on the cheap route, for only 5 bucks a pop. 3 of the 6 turned out alright. here they are.
and it was splendid. i got a lot accomplished, went to the beach and saw my little brother graduate high school. i’m stoked for him. i don’t think i’ve ever seen a kid so happy in my life. good job buddy! here are some click click clicks…
these last three are of my brother walking across the stage. so stoked. gotta love it.
so i’ve been working on this thing forever. i’ve realized that if i want to start to do larger pieces, i’m going to have to be a lot more patient. i like to hustle pieces, but my style of illustration definitely doesn’t allow for that. i’ve been working pretty constantly on this thing, and its taking ages. perhaps i just get distracted to easily. oh well, heres what i got thus far.
but when you’ve got 350 plus pictures to sort through, re-sizing, editing and posting them all the way i’ve been doing just isn’t going to work with the sort of lifestyle i live. i simply cannot dedicate an entire 48 hours to a blog post. i’m sorry. so i’m stealing erik, nick and mc’s method of photo sharing. thank you flickr. here are a couple, follow this for the rest… this is my trip to boston and new york… hellooooooo…
so i have had a very long absence from the world of blogging for a very good reason… my computer freakin’ bombed. in the midst of the bombing, i realized how productive i was “technology-less”, so i refused to get it fixed. along the way, i made art, went to boston and new york, got a new job, watched a play-off boston celtics game at the td banknorth arena (formerly known as the boston garden), thought of doing a triple back-flip numerous times, and become more amped on life than i ever thought possible. while the internet-saavy world had lost me, i developed. i promise. more pictures of my boston/new york trip to follow. freaking yea dude!
went to the long beach museum of art last week with matty crane and was fortunate enough to run across some saweet stuff. one of the current shows is called “three” and it features three local artists working in various painting mediums. my personal favorite was lori lamont. born in 1968 in san pedro, she currently lives in the lbc. insane watercolor!!! although she often paints a world of beautiful fantasy, she also can beautify reality. here are a few of her pieces i stole from her website. awesome on the web, glorious in person. if you get a chance, the show runs through june 8. y’all got plenty of time. and fridays are free. you got no excuses.
i’m working on a couple different things right now. i’m designing a logo for my buddy jamie’s photography company “Pistol Photography” as well as working on some pieces for a couple of friends. here is photographic evidence of the haps.
ps, both are in their preliminary stages. aka, still in the womb. aka, pizza.
so did a little bit of web-surfing during break time from artypartying and i came across this dude on fecal face. his name is corey arnold. he is a photographer/fisherman. click on his name for his website. in the meantime i sampled some pictures off his site to encourage one and all to check his stuff out. its pretty damn amazing. i mean, i almost want to move to alaska right now and start fishing. literally.
so my good friends matty crane and coach rob halma got a new apartment not too far down the block from my humble household and i’ve been celebrating with them. their spot is at the corner of loma and broadway in the lbc. it is sweet, they kick ass and the house is officially titled “the halfway house” in respect to it being directly between the timmy and mel mel residence and my own. this summer will be soooo good. anyone not in the lbc, get here by summer or be prepared to miss out on some epic activities. aside from obvious beach excursions, we also have ideas of playing soccer, softball, biking, dinners, bbqs, rock band’ing, art’ing, etc. etc. etc. so many good things with so many good people. i’ve said it before, and i’ll say it again. i am blessed to be surrounded by so many insanely amazing people.
aside from kicking it at the halfway, i did a little more work in the collage piece, bought a new pair of kicks that will help me in my quest to “make myself classy”, and created a new thingy for my necklace. don’t worry! be happy!
i brought some construction paper into work and had people draw on em. some of these are from that, some are from a weekend of hanging with friends and others are some that i did. i’m going to fill in some of the smaller holes in the collage with scratch construction paper today and work on a couple more drawings in hopes that i can have the thing nearly covered by the end of the eve.
here are some quick photographs of the drawings my home girls from la la land and the lbc put together when they came over to the yonder crib to celebrate life. i love this stuff.
so my mums best friend darlene gave me this rad WoodWick candle as a housewarming gift. rather than just buy a thank you card to send her (she lives up inside of idaho), i figured i would make one for her. i started it right away, but lagged in the process. too many projects going on at once. anyways, heres the nearly finished product. pizza and out.
while this project is taking forever, and is still nowhere near completion, it is quickly becoming freaking sweet. heres why:
1. i’ve gotten numerous friends to at least give drawing a shot, even if they have never once even considered it an option.
2. even if my friends don’t like what they are drawing, collectively thrown together, the viewer is going to get a quick glimpse of what life is like amongst myself and my friends.
3. because i have to cover so much terrain, i am being forced to continue to draw even if i feel like i’m forcing drawings out. while this may be frowned upon, i think it can only help me. i’m no longer just drawing the creepy scary things that flow most naturally from my hands.
4. its motha bleepin huge y’all
5. and seriously, if randoms want to contribute, email me. i’ll literally snail mail you some construction paper. jacobryanpost@gmail.com. pizza.
so i’m trying to get whoever comes over here to draw for the big collage piece thing. heres some samples of whats been did. sorry if theres duplicates from other posts.
started the day off with a joe sesh with timmy at the bean in seal. then i headed to my parents to drop off the tv i’ve been borrowing. sprague the leg met up with me there and helped me grab two sheets of plywood for my next little proj, as well as some pots and pans. i also found an old street sign that i’m going to use as the top to “on da left dayer fo frizzle?”. i still have to glue it all together, but it should be dope. heres some photos.

flea is going on a three week cruise around south america and to antarctica, so i stopped by henns to say my goodbye.
the corner of my room
and then i played with camera as i was falling asleep. i always fall asleep to music, but i had left my ipod in my car and i didn’t feel like running through hurricane katrina part dos to get it. so camera noodling filled the void.
