a good read…
December 18, 2008 | Filed Under books | No Commentsone of my many favorite things about new york so far is the time allowed for reading on the subway… when living in la, and driving a car from long beach to la everyday, reading whilst driving is simply not an option (or at least not a safe one, though i’ve seen people working on excel spreadsheets as they drive up the 405)… i asked my friend mauri to give me a couple of books to pass the time on the subway, and the first one i talked was Giovanni’s Room by James Baldwin… i had absolutely no idea what i was getting myself into when i started the read, but was quickly enticed by the social commentary that is belched from mr. baldwin’s pen… the book observes many areas of thought that people never let out… while the book discusses david’s (the main character) romantic endeavours with both men and women, it dissects his interpretations, fears and judgements made of the world around him… i would recommend the book to anyone looking for a read that will get the brain a’churnin…
i’m currently working on A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers… so far, so good… i love ipods and books and subways…
found-ed….
March 12, 2008 | Filed Under books, hawt, life | No Commentsso i’ve realized that nylon guys is a pretty legit magazine. its fairly well rounded and does a good job of demonstrating what is hip to the jive (cool in our world ?). it definitely isn’t entirely on point in my eyes, but its pretty damn close. i found the quote in my previous point in the aforementioned magazine, and these things also….

January 10, 2008 | Filed Under art, books, life, movies | No Commentsi’ve tried very hard not to watch many movies in the past few years. perhaps its because i don’t have the attention span for them, or perhaps its because i’m convinced that watching movies is unproductive. i’m trying to convince myself that i’ve just been stupid. i rented three movies from blockbuster the other eve to watch by myself.
the first movie was CANDY directed by Neil Armfield.

a film of drugs, and obviously i love those movies. i will never do heroine. its a love story starring heath ledger and abbie cornish (hottie!). they are lovers that fall in love with eachother and fall into even more love, a deeper love, on heroine. it ends up destroying them and turning abbie’s character insane. heath’s character can’t come clean. its good. its australian. watch it.
next i watched BROKEN ENGLISH directed by Zoe Cassavetes.

stars parker posey. kinda hot. falls in love in new york with a parisian. ends up going to paris to find him. can’t. finds him right when she leaves. glorious. i love romances. see it.
finally i watched PARIS, JE T’AIME on erik brandt’s recommendation.

amazing. the best of the three for sure. i’m not even gonna go into detail. short films, all good, best directors in the world. watch.
started reading too. coming soon….
